What it looks like
A fictional drylining subcontractor types its sub-contract's days into the payment calendar: due 7 days after the Interim Valuation Date, payment notice within 5 days of that, final date 14 days after the due date, pay less notice at least 5 days before the final date. Those are the example's days, not a statement of JCT sub-contract terms: you type in your own.
| Valuation date | Due date | Payment notice by | Pay less notice by | Final date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thu 28 Jan 2027 | Thu 4 Feb | Tue 9 Feb | Sat 13 Feb (serve by Fri 12 Feb) | Thu 18 Feb |
| Sun 28 Feb 2027, application in late on Tue 2 Mar | Tue 9 Mar | Sun 14 Mar (serve by Fri 12 Mar) | Thu 18 Mar | Tue 23 Mar |
| Sun 28 Mar 2027, over Easter | Mon 5 Apr | Fri 9 Apr | Tue 13 Apr | Mon 19 Apr |
The late application moves every date after it. Over Easter, Easter Monday isn't counted, so the due date is Mon 5 Apr rather than Sun 4 Apr. Switch the calendar to Scotland and it uses Scotland's bank holidays instead.
What's in the toolkit
No. JCT contracts are copyright and must be bought from JCT. The toolkit contains no JCT contract wording: it's what you run the contract with, using the values from your own contract particulars and amendments.
It has presets for the pattern JCT's own explainers give for its main contracts and for the Design and Build late-application rule, each labelled 'check your particulars'. Sub-contract payment days aren't built in: you type yours in.
Yes, it's built subcontractor-first. The contract summary has a red-flag checklist for amended sub-contracts, and the payment calendar takes your sub-contract's own day counts.

Yes. The workbook uses standard functions only, with no macros, links or passwords, so it works in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets. The letters are plain Word files and the guide is a PDF.
